In addition to its staff members, some of whom are licensed childhood educators through the state of Missouri, Riegel said the building itself is something the center prides itself on.
"It is really nice. We have top of the line toys, hardwood floors, and our backyard is beautiful," she said. "We have a white picket fence and amazing shade trees. It is a really lovely area for the children to be able to play and learn."
The center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"We work around parent hours pretty well," said Riegel, who has worked on and off in childcare for 14 years between raising her own three children.
Puzzle Piece accepts infants from as young as 6 weeks old up to those entering kindergarten.
Children are separated into different age groups and classrooms.
"We are starting kids early. If you stay with us through the whole process, we'll cover everything from letters, numbers, shapes and colors to potty training and even a little bit of Spanish," Riegel said.
The renovated house can enroll up to 28 children and the center is already up to about half capacity.
Riegel opened the facility, desiring to own her own business.
"I just like to do things my own way and I always enjoyed working with small children," she said.
"What's really going to set us apart is how hard our staff will work to have a good relationship with each parent," Riegel said.
"You have to trust the person that's watching your child," she said.
Riegel said as the center's director she plans to be on site 10-12 hours a day.
The center is located near Highway 47 next to Valvoline.
