"If we had something catastrophic occur in the St. Louis area, it could affect our region," said St. Clair Superintendent Dr. Michael Murphy. "We have many families who work in the St. Louis region. Even though we're not considered to be part of the metropolitan area, we're still linked."
Within the plan such topics as warning systems, safe rooms, education, public outreach, hazard maps and Web information are outlined.
"We feel like it's very important to support any emergency management plans for the St. Louis area," Murphy said. "It would definitely affect families in our area."
The plan was authorized by Congress in 2000 and adopted by local governments in 2004.
