Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, from 3-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
A parish rosary will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Durchholz owned and operated Annie's Five and Ten, Inc. (Ben Franklin), formerly the Mattingly Store, in Washington with his wife, Annie.
Before that, the couple owned Mauntel's Super Market on Fifth Street in the building currently occupied by Basket Case Deli and Creamery Hill Restaurant from 1959-78, and Eric's Finer Foods, later known as Eric's Super Market, from 1978 to the early 1990s.
A former president for both the St. Francis Borgia Parish Council and Metro Food Dealers, Mr. Durchholz also was a member of the Missouri Grocers Association, Lions Club, Jaycees, Elks and Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Durchholz also was a former Ambassador and past president of the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Durchholz, Washington; one son, Daniel Durchholz and wife Mary Nobel, Wildwood; one sister, Marian Zoeller and husband David, St. Louis; four grandchildren, Wolfgang, Eva, Stefan and Hans Durchholz; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Himmelberg and wife Donna, Washington; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials to the Lions Club or St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Scholarship Fund are preferred.
