Regina A. Engemann 1919 - 2009

Regina Agnes Engemann, 90, Marthasville, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington. Mrs. Engemann was born Feb. 20, 1919, in St. Charles, the daughter of Leo Weber and wife Regina, nee Borgmeyer.

On Nov. 18, 1941, in St. Charles, she was united in marriage to Ben Joseph Engemann. They were married 62 years.

Mrs. Engemann was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg and St. Ignatius Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Concord Hill. She enjoyed making quilts and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben, who passed away on Dec. 28, 2003; four brothers, Francis, Leo, Pete and Ed; four sisters, Sister Francella Marie Weber, Sister Marie Charles Weber, Edna Pohlmann and Christine Hoeckelmann.

Mrs. Engemann is survived by two sons, Norbert Engemann and wife Joan, and Kenneth Engemann and Ruth Marschel, all of Marthasville; one daughter, Mary Lee Heppermann, and husband William, St. Paul; two sisters, O'Delia Heppermann and husband Linus, St. Paul, and Sister Mary Leogene Weber, Bridgeton; one sister-in-law, Florentine Eckelkamp, Washington; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

A funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Concord Hill, with the Rev. Finbarr Dowling officiating.

Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Memorials to St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, Masses or St. Ignatius School Building Fund in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383, are preferred.

The family was served by Lichtenberg-Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville.



John E. McVey 1922 - 2009

Major John Edward McVey, 87, Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Marthasville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009.

Mr. McVey was born May 31, 1922, in Washington, the son of John Chester McVey and wife Velma B.

He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. McVey was a fiercely loyal and loving husband, father, friend, Marine and a devoted and very proud grandfather. He had a quiet, confident, positive attitude, a permanent twinkle in his eye and his few words were kind, true and funny.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Anna Marie McVey, in 2008.

Mr. McVey is survived by one son, John Jeffrey McVey, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Julie Ann McVey, Pensacola, Fla., and Jan Marie (McVey) Woodbury and husband, William P.; three grandchildren, M. Paige Woodbury, Maggie A. Woodbury and Kendall E. Woodbury, Pensacola, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Francis Andrews, Pensacola, Fla.; cousins, Dolores Ruether, Washington, Herbert Roloff and wife Melba, Marthasville, and Betty Lockart, Shelbyville, Ill.; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial services was held Friday, Sept. 16, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, Pensacola, Fla., with the Rev. Ron Pouliot officiating.

Burial with military honors was in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Fla.

Memorials to Pensacola Humane Society, 5 North Q St., Pensacola, FL 32505, are preferred.
