"I had my money put away for a rainy day and the rainy day is this shop," he said. "I decided to go into business for myself."
Wood said he hopes to make the turnkey operation into the prime party supplier in Franklin County.
The location in Washington Corners should help, he said.
Wood is working through Discount Party Store Developers who network to assist over 1,900 independent business owners throughout the country.
The store will carry items from over 30 suppliers.
Party Shoppe will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and from 12:30-6 p.m. Sundays.
A grand opening for the store is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7.
