Lady Jays Record Two Wins

The wins keep coming for the Washington volleyball squad.

The Lady Jays (9-1) notched two more victories during the week, a win Tuesday at home over Francis Howell North 25-10, 25-12 followed by a win Thursday at Holt, 25-12, 25-8.

"We started to quicken up our offense the day before we met up with Howell North, so I had some concerns about how the game would flow on our end," said Washington Head Coach Kym Blankenship. "The girls did a very nice job adapting to the quicker offense. It can be a timing nightmare during a game if a team doesn't have enough practice. I thought this week was a good time to introduce it and practice it this week and next."

Anna Holtermann paced WHS against Howell North with six kills and 15 service points, including three aces. Andrea Beaty added six kills, four blocks and two points. Alisha Skaggs finished with four kills, one block and three points.

Kara Blakley pitched in with two kills, one block and one point. Tiffany Borgerding added one kill and three blocks. Jackie Kleekamp also had a kill. Nora Hackmann had one block.

Hannah Seitter collected 13 assists and four points. Lindsay Meyer had five assists and eight points.

Also making contributions were Marissa Nadler, Jaimie Kuddes, Sarah Schwentker and Kate Brinker.

"We had a great passing night, so we were really able to push the envelope. We only had a couple of sets that didn't work out due to timing," Blankenship said. "Every player contributed to the game and saw some court time. That's always a good feeling when you can get a lot of players in during a home match."

Washington had little trouble in its match against Holt.

Beaty led the Lady Jays with six kills and three blocks. Skaggs added five kills. Meyer finished the match with nine assists. Seitter added six.

"The girls had another successful night of volleyball," Blankenship said. "We only had 17 kills for the night, but that was due to our aggressive serving. Anna and Lindsay had a great serving night. Combined, they served 23 points. Aggressive serving kept them from running their offense effectively."
