Aldermen are expected to vote on accepting a lease purchase agreement with King Commercial Equipment Leasing for the purchase of a new street sweeper.

The sweeper will come at a cost of $179,000, about five times what the city originally expected to spend, but the machine will replace the current leaf blower and street sweeper.

City officials say both machines are nearing failure and spending the extra money for the two-in-one apparatus will be financially beneficial in the long run.

The city will pay $30,000 per year in the lease agreement.

Aldermen will also vote on whether to lease land to Time Warner Communications Corporation to build a telecommunications antenna to be used for Franklin County Transit.

Aldermen will also vote on a pay raise for St. Clair Police Chief Bill Hammack for 2010 through 2014 in relation to the 12 month average of the Consumer Price Index U.S. city average.
