Under the agreement, CGI will contact local businesses to offer video advertising that also will be placed on the city's site.
CGI is a marketing and promoting firm out of New York that assists in "community leadership and municipal management" through products such as streaming "one-click" Web-based videos. The name of this program is, the Community Showcase Program, a Video Tourbook.
Graves noted that regardless of how many videos CGI sells to local businesses, the city will receive videos for two years on its site.
"Regardless if CGI sells 100 videos or zero videos, the city receives their six videos," he said. "I don't want businesses to think that to support the community they should do this - they need to look at the cost and see if it is a cost benefit for their business."
Graves explained the CGI would send a videographer to Union and record city videos.
The videos that are offered for sale to local businesses will vary in length and cost. There also will be a link to the businesses respected Web site via a logo, Graves noted.
He added that an example of the videos can be viewed at www.cityofeasley.net by clicking on the "video tour book" on the left side of the Web page.
Invitations will be extended to local businesses to participate. People also may contact Chris Muchard, sales executive of CGI, at 800-398-3029, extension 414, or Robyn Cassseri at extension 228.
In 2005, Graves looked into working with CGI to hang banners on lightpoles in Union. CGI would sell advertising that would be featured on the banners. The city did not enter into the banner agreement with CGI.
