You Voted for This Mess, Now Live With It

To The Editor: I claim no political party, but recent actions by the Democratic leadership will make my 2010 choice easy.

Maybe I missed it. Were there any members of the Democratic leadership present at the national memorial services? Our president claims to support our military, yet not even a token appearance by phone or sight did I see.

True, the president did fulfill his duty, as all presidents must do. As commander in chief, he has the duty to place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown. That is a duty, not a show of support.

Also, as a veteran, I see nothing encouraging about Obama's trip to the Muslim world. Appeasement and half apologies never stopped Hitler in 1938. Dictatorial leadership can never be satisfied. Power and fear is all they know.

Politicians sold us out in Korea, Vietnam and the first Gulf War. As an older veteran, I see another world war coming unless we are sold out again.

Social Security is about to be hit again. The $250 sounds great, but it will cost those on Social Security. We will receive no cost of living increases. In fact, if the Medicare costs go up again, we lose.

You voted for this mess, now live with it. We reap what we sow.

Really
Actually bakerstal8@yahoo.com it stems back to Clinton and even Reagan. However like most simple minded democrats you insist on blaming every problem on Bush.

To fertiledirt
1. Don't you think it is a bit ironic that you curse the "lies" and "inaccuracies" being taught in universities and schools in one breath, then use the fact that you're a university student as a means to fortify your statements in the next?

2. I took World Religion in college, too, and I don't remember "All Muslims are violent and dangerous" being part of the curriculum.

3. Historically, Christians don't come off looking any more peaceful. The KKK and many other white supremacist groups, as well as the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas that pickets U.S. military funerals, all claim Christianity as their foundation, but these are groups of extremists, not the norm. Or what about the Catholic priests molesting children? Are we to assume that all of them are guilty of the same crime? Fundamentalist groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, al-Qaeda and the Taliban are big, but not the standard, and your quest to pose all Muslims as murderous animals makes you sound like an ignorant fool.

4. A quick search of "fertiledirt" found your posts and comments all over the internet, and it's pretty clear that you are an angry, bitter right-wing zealot. You seem to be the type of person who, at some point, stopped absorbing any information that doesn't support your hateful tunnel-vision philosophy. You see, you and the religious extremists that you are condemning are two sides of the same coin, spewing hate and venom at each other, while the moderates and leftists that you so despise are actually searching for a peaceful alternative to our disagreements. Try out a little empathy and education. It may calm you down.

One step forward two steps back
For every negative comment on this board concerning the guy who calls himself president, there are always four or five that work hard to quell the "rebellion". First off, Obama's speech in Cairo was full of historical inaccuracies. In fact, they are the same inaccuracies that are being taught in our universities and schools. Twisted lies, as a matter of fact. Being a university student, I can tell you that the stated aim of Islam is what it has always been, far from peaceful. To say anything different is a lie. The peace that they admit to is only peace of conversion or death. Will the dems blame Bush for the 7-9 trillion bailout as well? C'mon, where's all of this money gone?If you talk to car lot owners across America, they will tell you much more about the ganster government we now employ, and socializing every aspect of what used to be private business is a very dangerous step. Denying the truth does not make it untrue, it only makes the public more susceptible. Obama has not been honest in many ways, but he is excused because everyone's afraid to look. Instead, pay billions to have your children educated in lies and frivolities, and businesses shipped overseas! No wonder every other country in the world laughs at us.

what?
This writer makes no sense. Even some thoughtful Republicans (yes, there are one or two) acknowledge that they and Bush put us in this mess. We're reaping what YOU helped sow by givng Bush two terms.
