General Motors will likely still file for bankruptcy protection to reorganize its debt amongst bondholders, the United Auto Workers union and the federal government.
Locally, the buyout of two Sullivan-area dealerships has impacted Trenary, Davis said.
"We've been getting a lot of business from the Sullivan area, especially in service," he said. "We have an award-winning service department.
"The great thing about this dealership is we handle Chevy, Buick, Pontiac and GMC vehicles, so we can continue to provide all of those folks with the same great service we have for years," Davis added.
None of the other Jim Trenary dealerships received closure notices from GM or Chrysler, Davis said.
The dealership's plan is to try to "be the No. 1 GM dealer in Franklin County," he said. "We want to progress from here and continue to grow the business."
Davis said excitement is building over several new cars including the 2010 Chevy Camaro.
"That car has been built very well. It is a real performer," he said. "Even with a V6 engine it churns out 304 horsepower.
Davis said the Union location still sells an even share of trucks and SUVs compared to cars.
"We are a very aggressive dealer. We don't advertise prices that 90 percent of people can't actually get," he said.
"We try to have real prices for real people. I think that's why we're so successful," Davis said. "We will work with everyone to get them the best deal."
The dealership's service department also works on many different vehicles.
"With a preowned department, we trade all kinds of cars in so we have no problem working on everything," Davis said.
Combined with a sales staff which is trained to meet or exceed the GM standards of excellence, Trenary saw an increase in sales in May over the previous month.
Through June 1 the dealership is still offering its Memorial Day sales which have produced an additional $1,000 rebate on many models and 0 percent financing for 72 months, Davis said.
