Knights Win District Golf Title

With a first-place finish at the Class 3 District 2 Golf Tournament, the Borgia Knights are headed back to the state tournament.

Borgia won the team championship Monday at Sullivan Country Club.

The first-place team and the top 10 individuals not from the winning team advance to the Class 3 state golf meet May 18-19 at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa.



The Knights posted a team score of 320 to claim top district honors.

Owensville finished second in the team standings with 338. Union was third with 356 followed by Festus (361), Sullivan (363), St. James (366), St. Clair (372), Potosi (379), De Soto (390), Windsor (392), Pacific (408) and Salem (423).

Each team played with five golfers. The top four scores were recorded.

Leading the Knights and posting the top individual score was Tim Price, who fired a two-over-par round of 73 over 18 holes.

Bryce Dolan ended the day with a six-over par 77.

Also playing for Borgia were Tyler Hart with 84, Nick Eggert with 86 and Scott Sullivan with 89.

Placing second in the individual standings and qualifying for the state meet was Union's Alec Wickey, who carded a round of 76.

Other state qualifiers were St. James' Drew Tucker with 77, Owensville's Garrett Baker with 78, Owensville's Cy Moritz with 82, Festus' W.K. Alexander with 84, Potosi's Zach Gibson with 84, St. Clair's David Schallenberg with 84, Sullivan's R.J. Brown with 84, Festus' L.D. McWilliams with 86 and Pacific's Rob Jackson with 87.

Owensville's scores were Baker with 78, Moritz with 82, Ethan Biles with 89, Anthony Hamann with 89 and Clay Ahfeldt with 109.

Playing for Union were Wickey with 76, Devin Arand with 90, Dan King with 93, Andrew Rich with 97 and Chance Legaspi with 125.

Sullivan's golfers were Brown with 84, Cody Philpot with 88, Joe Davis with 94 and Dillon Renfro with 97.

St. James' players were Tucker with 77, Jon Connell with 91, Kevin Ahart with 96, Chase Ford with 102 and Grant Mueller with 109.

Playing for St. Clair were Schallenberg with 84, Cameron Stahlman with 92, Andrew Haanpaa with 93, Jesse York with 103 and Luke Baer with 110.

Pacific's golfers were Jackson with 87, Wyatt Pettus with 93, Eric Glaser with 93 and Jason Sepe with 135.
