Griesheimer's committee lists him as seeking the office of Lieutenant Governor in 2012.
He did not return calls to his office seeking comment by the time The Missourian went to press Friday afternoon.
Two of the candidates currently serve in the state House and two are former representatives. All four are Republicans.
In Franklin County, 98th District Rep. Brian Nieves has formed a committee.
Nieves' committee, Citizens for Nieves, had a total of $1,095.26 in funds at the time of its latest report, April 15.
The candidate currently with the most in his coffers is State Rep. Allen Icet. Icet currently represents the 84th District and resides in Wildwood in St. Louis County.
Icet, like Nieves, is currently serving his fourth and final term in the Missouri House of Representatives due to term limits.
Icet's committee, Citizens to Elect Allen Icet, had $66,230.39 on hand at the time of his April filing. His committee received $19,575 during the quarter, spending $17,010.93. The committee came into the quarter with $63,666.32 cash on hand.
A former state representative, Jack Jackson of the 89th District, also is seeking the senator's position.
Jackson's committee, Jack Jackson for State Senate, took in $6,625 in the quarter.
Another committee represents former State Rep. Charles Portwood. Portwood served three terms representing the 92nd District in western St. Louis County.
Portwood's committee filed a limited activity report, meaning it had less than $500.
Several of the committees have large fund balances even with the election so far away because of previous campaigns.
The funds raised by the committees, formed for the candidates to run for other offices does not have to be given back to donors, but must be spent on expenses for seeking public office.
For those seeking seats in the House, only one candidate, Dave Hinson, St. Clair, has formed a committee for Nieves' current district, the 98th. The report was a limited activity report.
State Rep. Scott Dieckhaus has the only active political committee in his district for the 2010 election.
His rival in 2008, Kent Cunningham, still has an active committee, however.
In the 111th District, currently represented by State Rep. Charlie Schlottach, there are two committees.
One committee, Citizens to Elect DeVeydt, represents Tod DeVeydt, a Democrat who has sought the seat against Schlottach in the past.
Schlottach himself is term limited.
The other committee, Committee to Elect Charboneau for Rep, represents Justin Charboneau, a Republican.
Charboneau was appointed to the board of aldermen in Gerald, where he resides, Thursday, April 16.
The seat was vacated by the only person who filed for it in the April election.
Charboneau's committee was formed prior to his appointment to the Gerald board. A statement of committee organization was submitted to the ethics commission on March 3.
He also was elected as the Boone Township representative of the county's Republican Central Committee in August 2008.
Schlottach has a committee filed for the 16th Senatorial District.
While committees may be formed at any time, filing for the offices themselves will not begin until next year.
