Death Notices for Thursday, March 19: Kenneth Counts, James Johnson, Howard Murphy, Gary Nicholas and Genevieve Zweifel

Kenneth Counts Funeral Services Will Be Saturday
Funeral services for Kenneth Earl Counts, 80, St. Clair, will be held Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
Burial will be in Virginia Mines Baptist Cemetery, Lonedell.
Visitation was scheduled to be held after 4 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. Counts died Monday, March 16, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Reca "Lorene" Counts, nee Johnson, St. Clair; three sons, Gary Counts and wife Donna, Michael Counts and wife Cherie and Bryan Counts and wife Toni, all of St. Clair; four sisters, Oma Blair, Atlanta, Ga., Zula Haley, O'Fallon; Mary Petrey and husband Ivan, West Plains, and Betty Poole and husband Bill, St. Peters; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials to Virginia Mines Baptist Cemetery are preferred.
The family is being served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.

James Johnson Funeral Services Will Be Saturday
Funeral services for James Lee Johnson, 86, St. Clair, will be held Saturday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
Burial will be in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair.
Visitation was scheduled to be held after 3 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson died Thursday, March 19, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa T.J. Johnson, nee Lenau, St. Clair; three sons, Robert Johnson and wife Frances, Clinton Township, Mich., William Johnson and wife Pam, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mark Johnson and wife Ruth, St. Clair; six grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Clinton Township, Mich., Christopher Johnson and wife Ashley, Portage, Mich., Lanie and Kate Johnson, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Shelby and Holly Johnson, both of St. Clair; two great-grandchildren, Carley and Ashton Johnson, both of Portage, Mich.; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Masses are preferred.
The family is being served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.

Funeral Mass for Howard Murphy Will Be Held Friday
A funeral Mass for Howard J. Murphy, 55, Washington, will be held Friday, March 20, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington.
Burial will be in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Murphy died Tuesday, March 17, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Murphy; one daughter, Kathryn Fischer and husband Adam, Washington; his parents, Edmund and Myrthle Murphy, Catawissa; two brothers, Don Murphy and wife Michell, Pacific, and Gary Murphy, Catawissa; one sister, Joan Whitlock and husband David, Pacific; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital are preferred.
The family is being served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.

No Service Held for Gary Nicholas
No service was held for Gary Nicholas, 74, Union.
Mr. Nicholas died Thursday, March 19, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Nicholas, nee Skinner, Union; one son, Ken Nicholas, Kirkwood; one daughter, Kym Crial and husband Dr. Michael, Fullerton, Calif.; one grandchild; other relatives and many friends.
The family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.

Genevieve Zweifel Funeral Services Will Be Saturday
Funeral services for Genevieve "Jenny" Zweifel, nee Hatfield, 65, Bonnots Mill, will be held Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at Morton Chapel, Linn.
Interment will be in Community of Christ Cemetery, Linn.
Visitation was scheduled to be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the chapel.
Mrs. Zweifel died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at University Hospital, Columbia.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Zweifel, Bonnots Mill; one daughter, Christy Cook and husband Bill, Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Gregory Zweifel and wife Kim, Belle, and Donald Zweifel and wife Durae, Union; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Zweifel and special friend Steve Enke, Cuba, Mo.; one brother, John Hatfield and wife Nadine, Troy; one sister, Dimple Hynes and husband Richard, Troy; four granddaughters, Beth, Becky, Amanda and Courtney Zweifel; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials to Linn Masonic Lodge Charity Fund or Our Lady of Help School, Frankenstein, are preferred.
The family is being served by Morton Funeral Chapel, Linn.
