About the Artist:
Shelly Moorman-Stahlman is Associate Professor of Music at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, where she teaches organ, piano, class piano, form and analysis, and church music courses. Her students have received top honors in numerous competitions. Prior to this appointment, she served as Director of Music at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, Iowa where she developed and directed a graded choral and handbell program.
A frequent recitalist throughout the Midwest and East coast, she has garnered an impressive array of competition credits which include: Semi-Finalist in the St. Albans International Organ Competition in England; "Audience Prize," Spivey International Organ Competition; Finalist, Arthur Poister Organ Competition, and Second Prize in the MTNA National Wurlitzer Competition. She has been a featured artist at major venues in Washington D.C., New York City, and across the Midwest. Most recently she performed the Rachmaninov 2nd Concerto with the Central Pennsylvania Orchestra and gave organ recitals at the Cathedral in Atlanta, Georgia and at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Last spring, she was featured as one of four international organ recitalists invited to perform at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on one of the largest organs in America. Moorman-Stahlman is represented by the Phyliss Stringham Concert Management.
She has also given many workshops and master classes for conventions, colleges, and churches. Most recently she presented a workshop on the history of piano pedagogy at the Pennsylvania Music Teacher's Association Convention and a workshop on organ pedagogy for the American Guild of National Organists Convention.
Dr. Moorman-Stahlman is a very active leader in professional organizations. She has served on the National board of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians and as Dean of the Harrisburg American Guild of Organists Chapter. She is currently on the American Guild of Organists National Committee on Professional Education. She also continues to serve as a church musician as a substitute and for large choral presentations.
Shelly and her husband, Randy, and their 14 year old daughter, Megan have recently adopted two teenage girls from Ukraine, Dasha, 12, and Olya, 13. They live in Annville, PA.
