The Washington Business Networking International (BNI) chapter has claimed the Founders Award for the second year in a row.
The award, named for BNI founder Ivan Misner, is awarded to chapters that excel in various categories.
"The organization of BNI is a networking group that meets once a week to refer and share clientele to other members of the group," said Dr. Gene Spilker, owner of Spilker Chiropractic and president of the Washington BNI chapter.
Each BNI chapter has an open position for one representative of each profession. This provides exclusivity to refer business to a group member.
"We refer to each other as exclusively as possible based on the relationships that we have formed in each other," Spilker said.
"I have been in the group for a year and a half and I am overwhelmed with how many referrals have come to me from the group," he said.
The Washington chapter meets Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast at Elijah McLean's Restaurant.
The chapter is seeking additional members representing certain professions to join.
