The Union Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with Lifeforce Fitness to offer a variety of wellness classes leading into the winter season.
Gear up now with these fitness classes to prepare for the winter. Classes include yoga, morning dancer-cize and total body conditioning.
All classes are held in the city’s aerobics room, located in the lower level of city hall. Participants are asked to enter the side door located near the corner of Linden Street and East Locust Street.
Morning Yoga allows participants to gain flexibility, tone muscles, and enjoy the flow of breath within the body.
No previous experience required for this class. Participants are asked to bring a mat.
Class is offered on Mondays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The class will run from Oct. 22 to Dec. 3, but will not meet Oct. 29.
Beginning Yoga is a yoga class for first-timers. No previous experience required for this class.
Participants are asked to bring a mat. Class is offered on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Classes will meet from Oct. 23 to Dec. 4, but will not meet Oct. 30.
Yoga is similar to the other yoga classes, except this class will include the theory of yoga, plus exercises and breathing techniques.
Previous experience is strongly suggested. Participants are asked to bring a mat.
Class is offered on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The sessions run from Oct. 24 to Dec. 12. Class will not be in session Oct. 31 and Nov. 21.
Morning Dancercize is a upbeat class to get ready for weekend fun.
Combinations of cardio-dance movements with some muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility are thrown in for good measure in the class — all performed to motivating music.
This class is suitable for all levels of fitness and no previous experience required.
Class is offered on Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The session will run from Oct. 25 to Dec. 13. Class will not meet Nov. 1 and Nov. 22.
Total Body Conditioning
Total Body Conditioning is designed for both men and women and is suitable for all levels of fitness.
This class is designed to strengthen and stabilize muscles, develop balance and range of motion utilizing the individual’s body weight, body balls, gliding discs, step platforms, medicine balls and exercise tubing which will be provided.
Class is offered from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. The class runs from Oct. 25 to Dec. 13.
Class will not be in session Nov. 1, Nov. 4, Nov. 22 and Dec. 10.
Series are six weeks in length and cost $50 per series. Both city residents and nonresidents are welcome to register. Preregistration with payment is required.
