In addition to the closure of the railroad crossing at Lafayette Street May 23-26, future closures also are planned.

City Engineer John Nilges reported to the Washington City Council Monday that the railroad crossing at Kingsland Drive will be closed June 2-4.

Both crossings are to be closed by Union Pacific to perform crossing maintenance.

Nilges explained that the city will provide a secondary boat access to be accessed during emergencies.

There will be no pedestrian nor vehicle traffic permitted to cross during the work.

Railroad personnel will be responsible for all closures and barricades.

Nilges added that in June both crossings will again close for paving. He added that no paving schedule has been released.
