Update: The Union School District will be closed Wednesday, May 3, because of road conditions due to flooding.

Previous story: The Union School District and East Central College have canceled classes Tuesday, May 2, because of flooding.

Union R-XI Superintendent Dr. Steve Weinhold sent out a phone blast to parents just before 5 p.m.

"While working with the Union Police Department, city of Union and the Franklin County Emergency Management team all weekend long, and with the anticipated 31.5 foot river crest tomorrow and the possible closing of Highway 50 in Union, we will not have school Tuesday, May 2. Enjoy the day off, but please be safe," Weinhold said.

All ECC locations are closed Tuesday, May 2, due to flooding and potential road closures.

The areas road conditions will be monitored daily to determine when it is safe for students and employees to travel to campuses.

People may monitor ECC communications in the event the college resumes normal operations during the midday or evenings.
