Flooding has led to the closure of Highway 94 at Dutzow and there is no northern route out of the city of Washington, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The Highway 47 bridge in Washington over the Missouri River is also closed, according to Washington police.
"We don't know the duration of this closure," said MoDOT Assistant Maintenance and Traffic Engineer of the Northeast District Brian Untiedt.
The best source of updated information is the online traveler map at www.modot.org. MoDOT customer service reps are answering thousands of calls every day about the flooding situation, so people with internet access are encouraged to refer to the traveler map.
If needed, MoDOT customer service reps are available 24/7 to assist at 1-888-275-6636. Area residents are urged to be patient and avoid travel in these areas.
