It was reported the past week that State Department and White House officials were unaware that Israeli military had been quietly securing supplies of ammunition from the Pentagon without their approval. All of this happened while the White House and State Department were trying to limit Israel’s military action in the Gaza Strip.
What a lack of communication by our federal departments and the White House!
The reports also say U.S.-Israel relations have been seriously damaged. The Wall Street Journal reported that high current and former American officials say the relationship between the two countries has been hurt “by leaks that they believe were meant to undercut the administration’s standing by mischaracterizing its position and delay a cease-fire.”
Without our support, Israel would not have the military might it has. This has been true since the nation of Israel was established. Other countries with warlike intentions have followed caution in dealing with Israel because of the constant words of support for Israel coming from our government — from one administration after another.
This latest revelation has added to an uneasy feeling toward Israel. Can we really trust Israel? It also should be alarming to all that the White House and State Department did not know about the sending of added ammunition to Israel. Also left in the dark has been Congress. Heads should roll at the Pentagon.
What’s going on? Who is in charge?
