To The Editor:

I am writing to comment on the 30-minute ordeal at two of our Washington schools Thursday morning, Nov. 17.

A suspicious vehicle was spotted near the schools by an alert citizen.

The police were called and they, along with our school officials, went into immediate action to lock the school doors and protect our precious students. Thank goodness that it was determined that the vehicle and passengers were no threat that day, but it is very comforting and quite impressive how quickly our Washington police and school district acted.

Let’s remember to support these people who take care of us and our children on a daily basis.

We are lucky citizens to live in Washington, Mo.

Stop and give thanks, folks!
