To The Editor:
I am writing to thank the 2014 Washington T & C Fair Board for the smart move of bringing in a Christian music artist as a newly added concert spot on Wednesday evening. I heard of this happening and was excited about the opportunity to hear Matthew West. My family and I are listeners of Joy FM and picking Matthew West for the first “Christian Music Concert” was a great choice or good luck … whatever.
I will say that it was great to see area Christians banding together as one and proudly standing up to be heard and seen. Many of the area churches had their members out wearing their particular church’s T-shirts proudly. You could see in many faces why our area Christian music station is call Joy FM.
For those who didn’t witness the Wednesday night concert, you missed a great music concert and a touching display of “testimonies.” For a night in which there was a 90 percent chance of rain, it was a beautiful, cool breeze evening — God Is Good!
It was wonderful. We saw and heard personal testimonies about how God has worked in their individual lives and there were attendees with tears running down their faces. Individuals with hands raised to the skies in praise to God. There also was a prayer to close out the evening. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing.
Once again, thank you, for a great evening at the Fair. I’m sure our founding fathers would have been proud to see the Christian principles, in which our country was founded, being utilized. I did miss the cross on top of the large American flag by the stage . . . but we all knew God was there. Keep up the good work and please consider having a “Christian concert” every year.
