To The Editor:
I would like to thank two Good Samaritans and two state troopers who went out of their way to help us on Saturday, Aug. 31, around 11:30 a.m.
My girlfriend and I came to visit from Miami because she is a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend in Washington, Mo.
After our car broke down on Interstate 44 just outside of her hometown of Washington, while it is 100 degrees out and while we were waiting for AAA, two Good Samaritans stopped to offer help within a half hour.
One was a mechanic who offered to look at the car and the other stopped to give us cold water bottles (five minutes after I was complaining about being thirsty). Also, two state troopers stopped to see if we were okay.
I was extremely surprised! That would never, ever happen in South Florida. I don’t think I will ever see those people again or know who they are but I want them to know that the world would be a happier place if more people did the same.
Your generosity has inspired me to show my thanks by returning the favor to people I see broken down on the highway for the rest of my life.
We were in a white Toyota Camry. The people who stopped to help and give us water deserve recognition and I am hoping that this inspires others to do the same.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
