To the Editor:

Oh, my gosh. I cannot believe that Tracy Dering’s letter to the editor even got published. What a hate mongering letter from a supposedly “conservative Christian.”

I have refrained from writing earlier regarding praying before government meetings, but this letter really takes the cake. If this is what Christians have to say about those you disagree with them, I can only say that I am thankful that I do not profess that faith.

Since Mr. (or Ms.) Dering wants to quote the scripture I suggest going to Matthew 6:7, “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.” Or Matthew 6:6, “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
