Focus on Immigration Reform

Both Republicans and Democrats realize the need for such reform. The topic of comprehensive reform was in newspaper headlines during the 2012 election campaign, but now it is being neglected.

We are a nation of immigrants, and the continued flow of immigrants to our country is essential to our future economic growth.

Anti-immigrant laws and policies only harm businesses and the economy; just ask Alabama and Arizona.

We need a path for the 12 million illegal immigrants whereby they can obtain U.S. citizenship. Most of these people work and pay taxes. They want to belong and be citizens.

It is time for Washington and the news media to focus on comprehensive immigration reform.
