Education Is a Good Investment

To The Editor:

Let us look at some facts.

Missouri ranks 47th in funding for public education. We are one of the lowest funded states in the entire country.

Missouri has the lowest cigarette tax in the country. Washington, Mo., has one of the lowest tax rates in the metropolitan area.

Home prices in Missouri are some of the lowest in the country and for a developed nation, even in the world. Buy a house in England or Germany and see what you pay.

In terms of teacher pay, they are paid by the day and cannot be paid for time they do not work. It works the same way in all 518 Missouri public school districts.

I thought it might be refreshing to talk about facts and not opinions.

On the side of opinion, I think money spent on kids and education is a good investment for our country.

That is just my opinion.
