To The Editor:
I am truly saddened by all the deaths of young children at Newtown, Conn. To look at their faces and see all the beauty of these lives lost forever can be very disheartening. I’m sure the parents are devastated beyond belief.
Perhaps, though, we should put this in a little perspective. For over 10 years now we have been killing and maiming thousands of innocent children and parents in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan with our drone missiles and depleted uranium U.S. munitions. Are these children less important and therefore justified to be killed by our government because we don’t like their religion or we “think” they are a threat to our society?
Perhaps it is time for all parents in this country to stand up and defend children everywhere lest we admit that killing 20 children in this country is wrong but killing thousands in a far-off country is perfectly OK. And, we call ourselves a Christian nation.
