To The Editor:

On behalf of the board of directors of the Washington Town and Country Fair, we would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to the many volunteers and fairgoers who helped to make the 2013 Fair a success. It was our privilege to celebrate “Summer’s Last Blast” while serving as the chair and co-chair of this year’s event with such a great group of volunteers.

First and foremost, we would like to thank the board (and their families) for their dedication to planning and executing another excellent event this year. It is a pleasure to serve with all of you, and you should all be proud of the work you have done and continue to do.

Our thanks also go to the city of Washington and our parks department employees for their work in preparing the park for the week of beautiful weather and family fun. Additionally, we would like to thank our emergency service professionals who were once again involved and present through every step of the Fair. We are indeed blessed to have the support of Washington’s fire, police and EMS personnel each year.

In addition, we must give a special thanks to our many sponsors. The Fair could not bring in the main stage entertainment, motor sports shows, or family entertainment events without these generous businesses and individuals.

Last but not least, our thanks go out to Fair Manager Jennifer Giesike and her staff. Jennifer didn’t miss a beat even with the added responsibilities from her recent promotion. Her staff at the Chamber of Commerce put in many hours of service and deserve thanks for their continued dedication to the community. Thank you to Amanda, Becky, Tammy, Mary Beth and Tess as well as the seasonal additions of Kathy, Mary and Sandy.

Year after year we continue to be amazed at how a community of volunteers can put on such a wonderful event. As the Fair continues to be a substantial fund-raiser for many area schools, churches and service organizations, it is you and your neighbors who continue to work the gates, food and drink stands, and serve on the numerous committees to make it happen.

We thank you for supporting our community by attending the 2013 Fair — and hope you enjoyed “Summer’s Last Blast.” Please plan to “Meet Us at the Fair” Aug. 6-10, 2014, as planning has already begun. With your continued support there is no doubt it will be another success.
