To The Editor:
This is a thank you to our Gov. Jay Nixon for standing up for Missouri’s seniors.
By opposing the plan to decrease state income tax and raise the sales tax, Mr. Nixon understands that this adversely affects seniors or anyone who depends completely or in part on SSA income.
In most cases, as in mine, this income is not taxable. Decreasing income tax does not help me, but by increasing the sales tax, my SSA income is now taxable.
That’s just not right.
I have been told that this is only true if I spend it.
Like I have a choice if I want to feed my family.
