To The Editor:

I would like to respond to the Sesame Street analogy on gun ownership. I am frankly tired of being attacked by people who think all gun owners are criminals.

To use your own analogy, how about putting up a picture of an upstanding law-abiding citizen next to a picture of a criminal and saying, “one of these things is not like the other.”

I am a grandmother of 12 and have somehow managed to never harm another human being in my life even though I own and collect guns. There are other uses besides harming and killing other human beings for non-hunting guns.

My husband and I have set up a small firing range on our property and enjoy competitive games of skill. It helps us keep mentally and physically fit. It is a hobby we can share with friends. We have been responsibly trained by a certified instructor.

And, yes, if the “other guy” who’s not like me comes into my home wielding a baseball bat or a killer candelabra, I will take advantage of my Second Amendment right and protect myself.
