To The Editor:

The Washington area food pantries would like to thank the Boy Scouts for another outstanding food drive.

It takes many people to carry out an event of this magnitude. Thank you to the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts who handed out bags and collected the donated food the next weekend.

Thank you, also, to their leaders and parents who made it all possible. The pantries also had wonderful volunteers who helped with sorting, packing, and moving the food.

Finally, we want to thank everyone who donated food items. A total of 6,200 items were distributed to each of the three food pantries in Washington. Once again the Washington community came through in a time of great need. Our food pantry resources have been stretched because of the increased numbers of clients asking for our help.

The food collected by the Scouts will help us to serve those clients.
