To The Editor:
We would like to thank this very generous community for supporting the recent Wheels for Wheels Bike-a-Thon, which, as you may know, was planned by five young area ladies ages 11-13, again this year.
It benefited the Washington Jaycees All-Abilities Park just because they want to see this park built soon.
The park will be able to accommodate kids of all abilities and allow them to play side by side.
Learning from each other is an important lesson in life, and I’m proud to say these ladies set a goal, and along with the participants of this bike-a-thon, they surpassed it.
What a great lesson. The grand total collected was $7,561 which will go toward this fundraiser sponsoring the biggest piece on the playground.
An enormous thanks goes out to those donors who were simply touched by this story, held lemonade stands, went door-to-door with their parents or simply asked everyone they knew for a small donation.
Every dollar raised helped this happen. What a great example of determination these people are setting.
Special thanks to the T-shirt sponsors: Steamboat Financial, Dr. Roger Walkenhorst, Schaefer Door, Dr. Michael Hawkinson, Revolution Cycles, Gateway Education and Therapy, Unnerstall & Unnerstall Accounting, Bank of Franklin County, John’s Flooring, Bank of Washington and Dr. and Mrs. J.B. Grimes.
The event will be back again next year. Thank you for being an amazingly supportive community!
