To The Editor:

Recently on July 23, State Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, said on his facebook page that “Liberals are the most foul people on the planet!”

According to a 2012 Gallup Poll 21 percent of more than 300 million U.S. citizens are liberals.

While Brian may disagree with them, using such language to overgeneralize about millions of Americans who he’s never met is highly unbecoming a small child let alone a senator.

I’m quite disappointed with both parties at the moment but mostly I’m disappointed that redistricting and other factors have all but removed moderates and reasonable Democrats and Republicans from office.

What we have left are ideologues who are quite willing to put winning over the other party ahead of the people.

Brian Nieves has developed quite the national notoriety for that type of radicalism.

It reflects poorly on the reasonable people of the 26th District and results in bad policy for all Missourians, liberal, conservative and in between.
