To The Editor:
I propose someone in the town of Washington put the old Doc Haus building to use, not as another bar, or another restaurant but as a neat little grocery store perhaps like “The Fresh Market.”
Think about it, residents and visitors must travel to the south side of town just to get groceries.
Having the convenience of fresh local produce, products, and necessities in the historic downtown community would allow families and tourists to enjoy downtown that much more without having to travel to the newer part of town. Think Farmers’ Market on steroids.
Focus the store on health conscious goodness while still having the common staples.
If I had the money I’d do it myself!
Editor’s Note: Downtown Washington Inc. and others have been working to get a grocery store Downtown for some time.
