Impressed by Franklin County Vets
By Eric D. Holland, St. Louis
The Missourian
To The Editor:
I recently had the distinct pleasure to encounter one of the most amazing collection of people I have ever met: the Honor Flight veterans of Franklin County.
I was on a flight with this group who, for those who do not know, serves war veterans from World War II and Korea. Honor Flight provides free trips for the men and women who served our country to go to Washington, D.C., and visit the war memorials.
On my trip, I encountered both volunteers and veterans, all from Franklin County. I learned both about the organization and the veterans they serve.
All of the folks, both volunteers and veterans, were kind, humble, respectful and sincere. As I watched them, it reminded me of how fortunate I am to live in a country where men and women like this paved the way for our freedom.
My hat is off to the Honor Flight organization and most importantly the veterans they serve.
