To The Editor:

Last week a family that at one time lived here came for a visit.

We took a ride around town to see the changes that have been made in the last 12 years. They couldn’t believe how much it has grown commercially. They really liked what is being done on Front Street with the new condos and the landscaping.

The only negative things they had to say were the condition of some of Main Street’s buildings and the ugly space next to old Droege’s. They were also concerned with the lack of upkeep of the residences on Fifth Street. They seem very rundown and unkempt. They also mentioned about all the flower pots on Jefferson Street with nothing in them. It’s just one of Washington’s redneck ways. Overall, they enjoyed their visit to Washington.

Pat and Diane Shaw were the visitors.
