To The Editor:
May 4-10 is Public Service Week.
Public service employees are those who provide safety, policing, education, health, agricultural and drug enforcement services. They deliver our mail, warn us of approaching weather, preserve our natural resources provide administrative, legal and legislative services at the local, county, state and federal level.
We tend to take their services for granted. Let us thank them for their dedicated services and keep them in our prayers, including also our veterans and retired federal employees.
Unfortunately, our Congress is giving public service a bad eye. It appears they are more concerned about politicizing and pleasing those who pay for their election than remembering that their oath of office expects them to produce results to: “establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
Let’s pray for them to rediscover their roots.
