To The Editor:

Today’s (Wednesday, April 25) Missourian has an article on the front page about a young mother who left her 2-year-old child alone so she could go out drinking.

She is going to be charged with a felony and given a $10,000 fine.

Young parents should know that Grace’s Place is available and it understands that moms need a break. Grace’s Place is a not-for-profit children’s crisis nursery.

Grace’s Place staff would have watched that baby at no cost to the mom. Mom would have gotten a break and the baby would not have been left alone and kept safe.

We do not judge and we have up to four beds available for overnight childcare.

Please let all of your readers know about our services. This story could have had a much worse ending.

It is these endings we are trying to prevent.
