To The Editor:

I would like to address certain concerns about Amendment 1 (Right to Farm).

The first deals with foreign ownership of Missouri farmland. There are currently limitations in place for corporate and foreign ownership of Missouri farmland and has been found constitutional in federal courts. Corporate ownership of Missouri farmland is geographically restricted and foreign ownership is set at a 1 percent cap of Missouri agricultural land. Currently .29 percent of our Missouri land is foreign owned. The Missouri Farming Rights Amendment will not change any of this.

Also, the Farming Rights Amendment does not change or supersede any local ordinances or jurisdiction that are currently in place. The amendment creates constitutional protection for farmers and ranchers and will work side by side with local jurisdictions to protect their rights.

Please support all farmers and vote yes on Amendment 1.
