To The Editor:

Thanks to everyone at the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Parks and Recreation Commission for all your hard work in organizing the eclipse celebration.

I work with international students and on Monday, I brought a group of 80 or so students from places such as China, Germany, India, Malaysia and Italy to the Washington Fairgrounds.

My students could not have been more impressed with the city of Washington in general (many reported having conversations with city residents) and the event in particular. As far as I am concerned, there was no better place to experience what was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I may live in St. Louis now, but Washington will always be my hometown.
