To The Editor:

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Washington City Council chambers, there will be a public hearing on whether to allow a cell tower company to permanently remove an American flag.

When the tower was first constructed, the flag was attached. It was promised then the flag would remain.

Since then, although much smaller, it has flown day and night.

As one of the higher points in Washington, it is seen by many. Driving west into our city on Highway 100, it is one of the first sights observed.

Unfortunately, the owner of the tower wants to permanently  remove it. Instead of “Old Glory” flying proudly over our town, we will have an unattractive spire of metal.
