To The Editor:
An article in a Regional Trade magazine prompted this letter.
It opens eyes and draws attention to the dangers from repeated concussions athletes sustain during football and soccer: CTE, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is the long-term effect of these injuries.
The article states that “CTE is a degenerative condition that gets worse over time, and along with the physical pain comes emotional distress, anxiety, mood swings and depression.”
Parents, students and coaches, along with school administrators need to be informed of the risks involved in participating in certain sports so the facts and the truth will help them make an informed decision.
