To The Editor:
It appears that the United States has reached a new level of arrogance unmatched in society today.
With Nikki Haley’s threats to the rest of the world that we will punish them, meaning any country that voted against the United States, regarding moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, we have reached a new level of hubris that can only be matched by former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon’s quote on Kil Yisrael Radio on Oct. 3, 2001, (shortly after 9/11), when he stated, “Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear: Don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.”
The announcement by President Trump has already caused deaths to many Palestinians, including children, and has emboldened Israeli soldiers to kill and maim at will. When will America finally realize that Israel has become an apartheid state repressing millions of innocent people, all in the name of poor, little abused Israel that receives over $10 million every day of the year from the U.S. taxpayers?
That is over $4 billion annually and counting. With this kind of support, perhaps the U.S. is just as guilty of supporting apartheid as Israel. Surely, as Americans, we can’t be proud of this.
Nikki Haley should be fired as ambassador to the United Nations and President Trump should apologize to the rest of the world for such an arrogant, outrageous, divisive, obscene, stupid statement. I am ashamed to think that we have such a poor representative in the United Nations who believes we should tell the rest of the world to go to hell if they disagree with us.
