To The Editor:
I am so distressed over the immediate condemnation of David Schneider of our community. Already people are convicting him of a crime that may be an exaggeration of the real facts of what happened.
It is such a responsibility you take when you accuse someone of this crime. It devastates the entire family forever, even if he is found not guilty.
There are people who have suffered due to sexual assault. God help them to recover, but this sounds like hysteria on the heels of the Olympic scandal.
Let us not forget that the Salem Witch Trials were a result of three young girls who accused a woman in their town of being a witch. Before it was over, over 110 people were hung or died in prison. It stopped when these girls accused the governor’s wife of being a witch.
God help this man and in this climate of sexual abuse, God help all men!
