To The Editor:
Dear Dr. Davis:
I just wanted to compliment the students who went to Columbia to cheer for the St. Clair wrestling team.
My husband receives his medical care at the Truman VA, so on our way home to Washington we stopped for a quick bite to eat at the Steak ’n Shake in Columbia. When we entered the restaurant and saw it filled with high school students, we almost turned around and left, but because Bill loves chili three ways, we decided to take a chance and stay. I’m so glad we did.
We got to see an entire restaurant full of fun-loving teenagers who were respectful to the wait staff, other patrons and each other. Of course they were having a good time, laughing and joking around, but we didn’t hear any profanity, crude remarks or see any questionable behavior. What a joy to be surrounded by such enjoyable young people. They were a good reflection upon your school.
I know that sometime teenagers can get a lot of criticism from older folks, so I wanted to let you know that your high school students put a smile on our faces and lifted our spirits. Please let them know for us that we enjoyed having them as lunch partners.
By the way, I keep up with news about the St. Clair School District because our son Steve Webb works as a police officer for your community. I’ll tell him we met some great kids today.
