Supporters of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback are demanding he be signed by an NFL team before the season begins. Colin Kaepernick is the player who refused to stand for the national anthem.

Protesters gathered outside the NFL’s New York City headquarters the past week to show their support for the free agent, who opted out of his contract and hasn’t been signed by any team.

Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem as a protest of police brutality targeting blacks.

The reason he hasn’t been signed is because his act is divisive and no team wants a player who creates disunity among its players. Regardless of the action that creates disunity, a team owner doesn’t want a player who is disruptive to team unity.

The fact that Kaepernick is black is a nonissue. A disruptive player is not wanted.
