No one really knows what to expect in the way of crowds in Franklin County over the weekend and Monday with the solar eclipse event.
Indications point to a rather large crowd of visitors since we are in the path of the eclipse. Motels, hotels and other lodging facilities report they are booked solid. Other businesses that expect more customers have made preparations to fulfill needs people will have. That includes gasoline stations.
There have been reports that people are coming to the county from great distances.
Emergency agencies have made preparations in anticipation of large crowds. Law enforcement departments are ready to handle the traffic and crowds.
It appears everything that can be done to prepare for large crowds and traffic is in “ready” mode. We should know more as to what to expect in the way of crowds by Saturday since there are weekend events.
Anticipation of the eclipse is at a high pitch — that much we know.
