Motorists have reported some confusion over the speed limits on Front Street in Washington.
Last January the city council passed an ordinance setting the speed limit at 20 miles an hour from Market to Stafford. From Stafford to Tiemann, the speed limit is 25 miles an hour.
The confusion results from a 20 mile an hour sign on Front Street for westbound traffic, just east of Olive, but there is no 25 mile an hour sign for westbound traffic from Stafford to Tiemann Drive.
The city’s traffic committee recommended the limits due to the growth of restaurants, bars and residential units between Olive and Stafford.
The city also is going to erect signs showing the speed of vehicles in the 20 mile an hour zone between Olive and Stafford.
