The Washington community suffered the loss of two volunteers and public servants the past week with the deaths of Bob Mahon and John Uhrmann. They set an example of community involvement while in their prime years of life.
Mahon was the postmaster in Washington for a number of years and he followed in the “provide service” for postal customers mode that was the trademark of his mentor, the late Postmaster T. W. “Buck” Sincox. Mahon served on the Washington Park Board, school board and the city council. He also served on a number of committees over the years.
