There was a time when much was said and written about New Year’s resolutions. Today, well, the word has faded.

However, we think people still look upon every new year as a time to have a new beginning, a fresh start, correct that which is wrong, improve that which needs improved and most of all, have an optimistic attitude that 2018 will be better than last year.

Many resolutions fade as the year moves ever forward. The resolve that was there on Jan. 1 to make things happen somehow weakens — however, not in all cases.

Some resolutions are not realistic, often out of reach. Others may happen but in a bigger or lesser form. Some are forgotten and put away for another day, or year.

If you haven’t made any resolutions for 2018, you are not the only one. As we said, they seem to be a relic of the past.
